Grey Competitions Festival Was Continued Today

The Mayor (Mr F. A. Kitchingham) officially opened the Greymouth Competitions Society's 33rd annual festival last evening at the Lyceum Hall. He stressed the great .cultural and physical aspects of . the competitions, and wished success to everyone taking part. , ......

The president, Mr B. . Charteris, extended a welcome to the judges. He gave an interesting account of the society’s progress, and recalled the start of the competitions movement was commenced in Greymouth in 1907. Mr Charteris hdded that the competitions went into recess during the war years, and it opened yesterday with a total, of 116 classes, comprising just on 800 entrants.
