SPORTING Checkmate And Maudeen May Go On To Cup Class

Checkmate, who won the Queen Mary Handieap at Addington on Saturday in 2.24 3-5 from a 2.32 mark, made a good impression on astute judges and he is considered likely to reach tlie highest classes. The son of Jack Potts and taurene Wood was not well placed in the running but his driver took full advantage of ah opening once the straight was reached and Checkmate came through to win most attractively.
