TURKS FIRE ON SOVIET PLANE
(Rec. 2 p.m.) ISTANBUL, August 31. Turkish anti-aircraft fire and fighter planes last night forced down a Soviet military aircraft, which was flying over the outskirts of Smyrna. The authorities interned the pilot and the plane’s three passengers, a general and two colonels, all of whom are Russian.
