FRENCH MAY SPEND LAST PENNY ON BREAD THIS YEAR
(Rec. 2 p.m.) PARIS, Aug. 31. The Premier, M. Ramadier, in a speech today said the purchase of bread in the coming year might cost the nation its last financial resources. The wheat shortage would be critical in November and the world allocations would not maintain the bread ration at even the present low level. It would then be necessary to pay countries outside the scope of international authority very high prices for wheat. . M. Ramadier was referring to Argentina, from whom France refused to buy wheat last year because of the high price.
