JUGOSLAVS REPORT ARREST OF CATHOLIC PRELATE
PRAGUE, Aug. 29.
.The Jugoslav official news agency reports from Zagreb that the Vatican prelate, Archbishop Giacomo Ukmar, who was wounded on Monday when he was attacked by a Slovene mob at Lanische, has been arrested. The agency quotes the Croat Premier (Dr Balearic) as saying that the incident in which Father Buslic was decapitated and Archbishp Ukmar injured was the result of “a provocation planned at a meeting of priests in Istria, when it was decided to prevent persons from attending a Confirmation. service .who" were ‘enemies of tlie church? ” _ . , The parish priest of Lanische, Father Stefan Cek, has also been arrested on allegations that he organised the Church Defence Guard. Italian organisation, has asked the United Nations to intervene “to stop the persecution of individuals, free institutions, and religious orders,” sayys the Vatican radio. The committee acted because of the tense situation following the murder of Father Buslic and the wounding of the Papal delegate, Archbishop Ukmar, in the Jugoslav zone of Istria.
