FORMER CONVENT PUPILS FORM OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION

A m°eting attended by 30 women last evening decided to form a Greymouth Convent Old Girls’ Association and to hold regular monthly gatherings mainly in the form of social evenings. One of the first duties of the newly formed association, it was agreed, would be to assist the campaign to raise funds for the building of a new St Mary’s school at Greymouth.

The Rev. Father J. McCarthy, who sponsored the meeting, spoke of the aims and potentialities of the organisation.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mrs F. M. Dennehy; president, Mrs E. L. Kehoe; vice-president, Mrs W. Connor; secretary, Miss E. Keating; committee, Mesdames M. G. Kelly, M. G. Pfahlert, and E. Wood, Misses J. Raleigh, M. Coll, E. Cawley, M. McGrath, Q. Hassall, M. Hanrahan and A. Saunders. Reefion Phinkcl Society Appoints Four Delegates

The Reef ton Plunket Society has appointed the following delegates to attend the West Coast conference at Greymouth on August 29: —Mesdames S. Smith, C. McElwee, C. Harris and G. Wilson.

It was decided to purchase blanket material for the. base of the play-pen. ft was decided to approach Mr Archer again concerning the proposed alterations to the room. In this connection it was further resolved that if arrangements for the alterations are not completed within two weeks new curtains be hung in the room. It was reported that Nurse Pearce will not visit Reefton on August 18, but that she will do so on August 25 and September 1.
