CABLE BREVITIES 4½-Day Week Claim By Australian Union

The Pastrycooks’ Union asked Mr Justice de Baun in the Industrial Commission today for a four-and-a-half-day week for workers in biscuit factories. A union official said in evidence that the application was being made to give employees time to do their shopping on Friday afternoons, and that three firms had already agreed to the application. The industry now works a five-day week.
