OBITUARY Mr H. R. Bush

IP.A.) THAMES, August 4. The death of Mr Henry Robertson Bush, aged 69, of Tirohia, has occurred. He was clerk of the court at Thames from 1918 to 1936. He was a member of the Thames Borough Council from .1921 to 1941, a member of the Thames Hospital Board,, and a member of the Thames Valley Power Board. He was chairman of the committee of both the Thames and Ohinemuri Jockey Clubs at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter. Air Edward Lane The death occurred recently at Oamaru of Mr Edward Lane, aged 79, probably the oldest chemist practising in the Dominion. In 1898 Mr Lane commenced the manufacture of Lane’s Emulsion. After much painstaking research and work he discovered a means of emulsifying, the ingredients, and in the intial stages the emulsion was prepared with pestie and mortar. About 25 years ago, Mr Lane went to Melbourne and opened a branch of his emulsion manufacturing business there. Mr Lane's factory has been one of the contributing factors in the welfare of the port of Oamaru, because of the extent of its shipping business. He was a much-travelled man. Mr John Galway The death occurred recently at Castlecliff' of Mr John M. Galway, a former resident of the West Coast, aged 75 years. He was a son of the late Mr and Mrs John Galway, who were pioneer residents of the district. - C'

He is survived by his wife, two sisters and two brothers, one of the latter being Mr Patrick Galway, of Reefton.
