PROGRAMME FOR CONFERENCE OF PLUNKET SOCIETY

The main business for discussion at the quarterly meeting of the Greymouth Plunket Society on Wednesday was the West Coast conference, which will be held at the end of August. District committees were well represented, delegates attending from Hokitika, Runanga, Brunner, Kumara, Blackball and Ikamatua, in addition to 11 members of the Greymouth committee.' A tentative programme for the conference was drawn up and is to be submitted to the Dominion President (Mrs Begg) for approval. From discussions at the meeting and reports from committees unable to attend the quarterly meeting, it is evident that wide interest- has been aroused by the decision to hold a conference on the West Coast and delegates wdl attend from Buller branches, in addition to all West Coast districts. _ A report of the last Dominion Council meeting was received and discussed. A circular from the Dominion secretary asked branches to advise their sub-branches that any approach to a Cabinet Minister or a State Department on matters relating to the affairs of the society must be made through the Dominion Council or its executive. ' The nurses’ report stated that attendances during June had been good and that the rooms at Cobden and Karoro were being well patronised. The statistical report for the month was as follows, the figures being the total for town and country areas: New cases 36. Visits to homes 268. To rooms: babies 382; pre-school children 29; adults 413. Number under supervision, babies 641, pre-school 260.
