Communists Disrupt Meeting In Melbourne

(Recd. 2 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Demonstrators broke up ■ a meeting of volunteers which had been called to' form vigilante squads. The organiser of the meeting, speaking through a public address system, said he wanted to enrol recruits to protect emergency transport drivers against a possible attack by strike pick- . ets. In scenes similar to those at the Sydney Domain during the recent waterside strike, a group of Communists moved towards the platform and heckled the speaker. Fifteen minutes later the Communists jumped on to the platform, addressed the crowd and moved a resolution expressing sympathy with the strikers. The uniformed police present made no attempt to interfere with the Communists.
