MILK ROUNDSMEN TO RECEIVE DOUBLE PAY ON SUNDAYS
(PA.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Auckland milk roundsmen will receive double-time pay .for deliveries on Sundays. This claim by the union was granted today in the decision of a tribunal which met yesterday to resolve the dispute concerning Sunday work. The tribunal’s decision made it clear that a worker who had worked the limit of 10 days in a fortnight and is called back for extra duties on Sunday would not oe paid double time as well as the overtime prescribed in the award for work in excess of 10 days fortnightly. A worker employed outside the normal working period would be paid double time rates for all time worked on any Sunday, this payment being m lieu of the payment provided lor overtime in the roundsmen’s awaid, which is time and a-half for the first three hours and double time thereafter. Mr S. Ptitchie said that as the members of the tribunal were unable to rccich. 3. decision, he ss chairman had to make the decision in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Strike and Lock-out Emergency Regulations. The decision applies to the whole of the northern industrial district.
