OBITUARY Mr. R. W. Stiles
(P.A.) NELSON, This Day. The death has occurred of Mr. Robert. William Stiles, aged 81 years, managing director of the firm of RW. Stiles and Cd. Ltd., printers, and one of the best-known of Nelson’s elder citizens. In his younger days Mr. Stiles represented Nelson at Rugby, cricket and hockey. Later he became president of the Rugby Union. He had a long interest in bowling, holding the position of secretary of the Nelson centre for 34 years. He was active in the old Volunteers, gaining the rank of major in the 12th Nelson Regiment. In Freemasonry Mr. Stiles held the high rank of Past Pro Grand Master in recognition of his meritorious service for 44 years. He was secretary of Victory Lodge from 1914 until his death.
