Nolan—Mulcare Sweet peas and roses decorated the Church of the Sacred Heart, Ngahere, for the wedding which took place recently of Ivy Patricia, second daughter of Mi’ and Mrs E. Mulcare, Ngahere,and John, second son of Mr and Mrs J. Nolan, Wataroa. The Rev. Father Quinn officiated. Crisp, white, self-patterned organdie trimmed with white Valenciennes lace fashioned in old-world style was worn by the bride, who was escorted by her father. Her veil of white tulle fell from a top-knot of white roses, and she carried a bouquet of white gladioli and Christmas lilies. Her sister, Miss Mary Mulcare, and cousin, Miss Cecilia Mulcare, attended the bnde. each wearin rr nale green organdie, the square necklines oeing eaged with inns and timsneu with flared peplums. Their headdresses consisted of bandeaux of green crinoline edged with pink garuenias. They carried bouquets of gladioli and sweet peas. Mr Stephen Nolan, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man and Mr James O’Malley was groomsman. Miss A. O’Connell was at the organ and Miss E. Hogg was the soloist. At the reception, which was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mrs Mulcare received the guests. She wore a black beaded ensemble with matching accessories and a shoulder spray of cream roses. She was assisted by Mrs Nolan, who wore a black figured frock finished with a spray of tea roses.

When Mr and Mrs J. Nolan left for Napier the bride travelled in a black suit relieved with white, with black accessories. She carried an oatmeal shade coat. Women’s Institutes Runanga The monthly meeting of xhe Runanga Women’s Institute was held in the Fire Brigade Hall on Thursday evening. Mrs Timlin presided over a fair attendance. Mrs Clelland read the aspirations. Mrs Farquhar was welcomed back to the institute, and two visitors were also welcomed. The motto for the month was “Let us leave the world better by the work we do.” The roll call, “An- embarrassing moment,” was responded 1o by all present. Mrs J. Tinning won the fund trophy. The February meeting of the Stillwater Women’s Institute took place on Monday evening in the Stillwater Hall. Mrs Cooke presided over a good attendance of members and two visitors were welcomed. Nominations were received for the election of officers lor the annual meeting in March. Mrs Cooke was nominated as a member of the executive council. The roll call, “Where you first met your husband,” was well responded to. Mrs Hill, of Taylorville, gave an interesting travel talk on Egypt. She also gave a demonstration of the making of novelty felt necklaces and white lace accessories. During the social half-hour Mrs Hill conducted a novel game “Naming the flowers,” Mrs Burt of Wellington being the winner. The monthly competition (a darn in a woollen sock) resulted: Mrs Wilson 1, Miss F. Buckley 2. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Galligan and W. Adams.

Personal Notes Mrs B. Miles, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs G. H. Russell, returned to Wellington on Saturday. included among the guests for the Fanckhurst —Douglas wedding, are Mrs A. Mclntosh, Mrs Rattray Fraser (Wellington), Mrs M. Cauri (Dunedin), Mr O. Taylor (Christchurch), Mrs T. Duff, Mr and Mrs J. Wheeler (Hokitika). . The appointment of Miss W. Delugar, at present lady superintendent at the Auckland Hospital, as matron-in-chief of the board’s institutions, was made by the Auckland Hospital Board last night. Miss Delugar joined the Auckland Infirmary as a junior assistant in 1926, and later held appointments as senior sister at 'the Auckland Hospital and senior sister at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva. From 1936 to 1944 she was assistant lady superintendent at the Green Lane Hospital, and in 1945 she took up her present appointment. — (P.A.)
