LAST-MINUTE MOVE
GOVERNMENT CRISTS IN HUNGARY LONDON, Feb. 10. A last-minute compromise has averted a break-up of the Hungarian Coalition Government, says the Budapest correspondent of The Times. The Smallholders Party, supported by a small but influential Peasant Party, defeated the Socialist-Com-munist combination and secured Parliamentary approval of the appointment of a special committee to investigate treason charges levelled against certain members of the Smallholders Party. Speakers claimed that the charges were designed to disintegrate the party and force it from the Government. The crisis passed when the Smallholders Party agreed to defer the formation of the committee and accepted an offer to widen the.powers of a committee already investigating an alleged plot to overthrow the Government.
