SHIPS FULLY BOOKED

HUNDREDS OF TRAVELLERS TO ENGLAND (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Discouraging reports of the food (situation in Britain, difficulties in travelling, and the shortage of accommodation abroad have apparently done little to dampen the enthusiasm o£ New Zealanders for trips to Great Britain. Vessels leaving New Zealand during the autumn months are fully booked and applications for passages are likely far to exceed the available accommodation. Businessmen connected with British firms or interested in English lines represent a large percentage of those going overseas. The Waiwera will sail with a lull complement of 115 passengers tomorrow, and the Waipawa, with her smaller capacity of 24, on Friday. Approximately 420 passengers wil go by the Largs Bay on March b, while the Wairangi will also sail m March with approximately 100 passengers. ■ The Empire Star is set down to sail in April with 130, and the Rimutaka and Rangitata are expected to leave in the same month with about 300 and 700 respectively. Later in the year the Akaroa wilt make her first sailing in her restored condition, but her return to the trade will probably be offset by other vessels being withdrawn for overhaul.
