THE WEATHER Forecast: Cloudy
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: There is a weak depression north-east of the North Island, and a cold front is advancing on to the South Island from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Moderate variable winds, westerly or south-westerly predominating; weather, cloudy with scattered drizzle or rain, chiefly in South Westland; temperatures mild. Further outlook: Similar conditions. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m. Barometer, 29.97 inches (1015 millibars); thermometer, 61; wind, north-west (light breeze); sky, overcast with drizzle; bar, moderate swell; rainfall, 0.02 inches (The total rainfall to date this year is 6.33 inches). The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 25ft 9ins.
