KUMARA CLUB’S MEETING CLOUD SONG AND CORNISH NOTE WIN The Kumara Racing Club’s annual meeting is being held at Omoto today in fine weather, with a cool breeze from the south. The track is hard and-fast and there is a good attendance. Results: — TRIAL STAKES, of £110; five and a half furlongs.—First division: . 1- Mr. H. Cloud Song entered the winning ranks when she led from end to end in the first division of the Trial Stakes. RANGEFINDER WINS AT ADDINGTON (P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 8. The Canterbury/ Park Trotting Club’s meeting is being held at Addington to-day. The weather is overcast but warm and the track is fast. Results: — YALDHURST HANDICAP, of £500; 4.50 class, two miles:— 3-7 FAIRY WINGS i(J. B. Pringle) 1 7-5 BELLE HEADER (D. L: McGregor) .. .. 2 .8-9 GOLD WEED'(J. Behrns) ... 3 ' r All started. Eight lengths; four. Times: 4.31 1-5, 4.33, 4.29 4-s'. Fairy Wings, which won three races at Greymouth early in January, atoned for her Forbury Park failures by a convincing win in the Yaldhurst Handicap. She was in sixth place, behind Calumella, Betty Maxegin, Billy McElwyn, Tolerate, and Belle Header with six furlongs covered, but was trotting very solidly. She gradually moved up and, taking the lead with two and -a half furlongs to go, gave nothing else a chance, cutting 18 4-ssec off her handicap time. Belle Header just as easily beat the remainder, but there was a photo finish for third and fourth placings, Gold Weed being placed third and Betty Maxegin and Calumella dead-heating for fourth. The winner, Maudeen, took the lead from Emily Volo after five furlongs and was never afterwards headed. She was strongly challenged by Hal Derby, but held on in the straight, and Swaledale finished well for third, ahead of Blue Revue, Gantree, and Emily Volo.
