GENERAL MARSHALL SWORN IN.— -At the end of his long journey from China, General of the Army George C. Marshall takes the oath of office as Secretary of State, in the presence of President. Truman at the White House. Administering the oath is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Fred M. Vinson (right). Before taking the oath, General Marshall declared that he can never be drafted for the Presidency or other political office.
