Woman Magistrate : Too Severe?
(Rec. 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 6. The Home Secretary, Mr. Chuter Ede, has refused to remove Britain's only woman stipendiary magistrate, 46-year-old -Miss Sybil Campbell, from London’s Tower Bridge Police Court. Replying to the Lambeth Trades Council’s complaint about 'her severity., in dealing with first offenders, Mr. Chuter Ede points out that offenders who think the sentences are excessive can appeal.
