Chocolate Factory to Close.
Because of the shortage of fuel the chocolate manufacturers, Cadbury’s, have announced that they are closing the Bournville works near Birmingham on Thursday for 10 days. Eight thousand workers are employed at the works. —London, February 4. Deaths from Cold. The British Military Government in Germany has announced that 76 people died from cold in Berlin, including 11 in the British sector, between December 1 and January 1. Nearly 24,000 were treated for frostbite.— London, February 5. Naval Cadets. The Secretary of the Admiralty announces that the special entry cadets who passed examinations at the Royal Naval Engineering College, Devonport, are: Executive, I. S. Monro; engineering, H. R. Simmonds; supply, Ellison.—London, February 5.
