Careless Shooters.
Either vandalism or the careless use of firearms caused people with holiday cribs at Purakanui some worry over the holiday period. One resident told an Otago Daily Times reporter that he had found several bullet holes in the fibre-boarding of his house. In another case several panes of glass had been broken by rifle shots. One woman had a frightening moment when a bullet came through the ventilator over the front door of her house and lodged in a bedroom.
