COLOURFUL INDIAN RELIGIOUS CEREMONY.— Rarely publicised, a spectacular religious procession is staged in Calcutta each year on January 5 to mark the birthday of Guru Gorind Singh, Grand Sahib of India. Five Sikhs with drawn-swords lead a dec orated lorry bearing the Holy Book of the Sikhs. More than 5000 men, women and children took part in this year’s ceremony as the mile-long procession wended its way through the city streets.
