WHEAT PRICES

AUSTRALIA EXPECTS A DECLINE (Rec. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 5. State Agricultural Ministers attending an agricultural conference believe that wheat prices will fall sharply within the next two years. Reports predicted that though a grave world shortage of wheat still existed production was catching up with the pre-war figure of 1,580,000,000 bushels yearly, exclusive of Russia. Commonwealth officials believe that the trend of world prices in the next 12 to 18 months will force Australian States to seek the security of the Commonwealth stabilisation plan. Rejection by the South Australian growers of the Commonwealth plan means that the proposed stabilisation scheme cannot be carried through. With the prevailing high prices grower? are loath to accept the limitation inposea by such'a plan.
