QUESTION REFERRED TO SUB-COMMITTEE NEW YORK, December 5. The United Nations Assembly’s Political and Security Committee, after two days’ intense but inconclusive debate, deferred the Spanish question to a sub-committee. Fifteen nations have so far supported the Polish proposal and 10 nave backed the United States resolution. Twenty-nine nations are undecided. Mr. Gromyko (Russia) to-day accused the Western Powers of seeking pretexts to avoid direct action against the Franco Government.
