GRAND LODGE
ELECTION OF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 4. Freemasons from all parts of the Dominion are visiting Christchurch for the 57th annual communication of the Grand Lodge, most of the 314 lodges of the New Zealand jurisdiction being represented, either by sitting masters or their deputies. A business session of the Grand Lodge opened under the chairmanship of Grand Master E .C. Smith, of Gore, this' evening. Newly-elected Grand Master, Mr Charles Favell (past De-puty-Grand Master), and other high officers of the order were installed and invested with colourful ceremony at the Civic Theatre. Under a system whereby the headquarters of the Grand Lodge are located for two-year periods in each of the four main centres in rotation, the offices'of the craft have just been removed from Dunedin to Christchurch, and accordingly executive officers for the ensuing year have been chosen from Canterbury province. They were declared elected as follows: Grand Treasurer, P. C. Browne; Grand Registrar, H. H. Hanna; president of the Board of General Purposes, J. C. -Forsyth; president of the Board of Benevolence, A. S. Drayton. It was decided that the next ahnual communication be held in Wellington.
