OBITUARY Mr. Ernest Mackley
The death occurred at Reefton yesterday after a brief illness, ■ of Mr. Ernest Mackley, aged 74. He was born at Waipuna and had lived in that district all his life. He was a well-known farmer. Mr. Mackley was unmarried. He is survived by one brother, Ralph (Gladstone); and four sisters, Mesdames E. Butler (Gladstone), P. Watt (Napier), A. Joy (Auckland)) and A. Marshall (Nelson). The funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Samuel Rose The death occurred this morning at Greymouth of Mr Samuel Arthur Rose. He had suffered a brief illness. Mr Rose was born in Cobden 73 years ago and had resided on the West Coast all of his life. He worked for Messrs Arnott and Seabrook, and for many years was employed on the Greymouth wharf. Recently he worked for the Education • Department. A single man, he served in the First World War when he was taken prisoner. He was a member of the Foresters’ Lodge. He is survived by two brothers, Willi'am (Arney street) and Charles (Auckland), and two sisters, Mrs E. Hornsby (Cobden) and Mrs W. Petherbridge (Wellington). The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery to-morrow.
