LIFE SAVING Meeting Grey Club Holds Annual

Reference to the good work last season of members of the club in bringing to safety several bathers who had ventured into the sea out' of their depth was made at the annual meeting on Wednesday evening of the Greymouth Surf and Life Saving Club. It was pointed out that in two cases, a man and a woman had been saved from the surf when in serious trouble. ' The president, Mr. J. B. Kent, was in the chair and there was a good attendance. The annual report, which stated that the plant and buildings were in good condition, and the balance sheet showing the club to be in a good financial position with assets amounting to £283, were adopted. The following officers were elected: Patron, the Minister of Transport, Mr. O’Brien; president, Mr. J. B. Kent; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Dennehy, E. O’Donnell,- W. S. McClymont, Mills, F. tees, Messrs J. B. Kent and J. Richardsoh (sen.); instructors, Messrs C. Richardson and J. Campbell; committee, Messrs W. Lawry, G. Mathieson, A.. Agnew, J. Cain, R. and V. Olsen and L. Harrington. It was decided that, the medals won by two members of the club, Messrs' P. Affleck and C. Richardson, when they assisted in the resepe of 'two men stranded on a rock in the sea off Ten Mile early this year, be presented at a social to be held shortly. Congratulations were received from the New Zealand Life Saving Association on the feat of the men. It was reported that the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. W. E. Parry, had authorised a grant of £lOO towards the construction by the club of concrete shelters and showers on the Blaketown beach. This grant, however, was subject to the club raising £2OO. !
