At that meeting in the late summed of 1889 three strangers from Ireland--the du Cros brothers—riding cycles fitted with the first Dunlop air-filled tyres defeated the rest of the field, including some of the best professional riders of the day, who were relying on the solid rubber tyres then in vogue. Finishing first, second and third, the du Cros brothers began a revolution in road locomotion. Those first Dunlop tyres changed the history of world transport. Today, Dunlop tyres are still the standard by which all tyres are judged.
