AUSTRALIA Bernborough Again Wins Easily
Thirteenth Success on End SYDNEY,. Sept. 22. The Sydney champion, Bernborough, had no trouble in winning his thirteenth race in succession when he ( defeated the champion mare, Flight,, in the Hill Stakes, at Rosehill yester-'. day. He' steadied down in third position in a field of four, with Flight leading by several lengths. Flight
stayed in front until she entered the straight, by which time Bernborough had passed Prince Consort and was pressing. Bernborough then moved effortlessly to the front and won in a canter, with Mulley easing up. Shannon scored brilliantly in the Theo Marks Quality Handicap, covering the seven furlongs in 1.22 J, a course record. Even then he only headed Bernborough’s half-brother, Dowborough. The New Zealand-bred Immediate ran disappointingly, dropping out after being second to the half-mile and finishing twelfth. The Mr. Standfast colt, Prince Standard, finished very strongly to take the Rosehill Guineas from Flying Duke and Two Grand. Lord Bai won, which is obviously not ready yet, finished ninth in a field of fifteen after never being nearer than seventh. Delano ran similarly in the third division of the Encourage Handicap, finishing sixth.
