NEW DESIGNATION FOR EMPIRE (Rec. 11.45 a.m.) PARIS, September 22. The National Assembly decided that the referendum on the constitution be held on October 13 and also that the French Empire in future be called the. French Union and the word “associates” be used instead of colonies.
