VICTIMS OF CALCUTTA RIOTS.-Moslem “action day” which saw India’s Moslems demonstrate for establishment of their autonomous dream of State of “Pakistan touched off one of the most murderous riots in the violent history of Calcutta. After three days of battle-sized riots, a semblance of order was restored to the city, and a grim tally of 3468 corpses was counted in the city s sheets. This photograph shows the bodies of some of the victims still in the debris-littered street. The photograph was taken before it was safe to count and carry away the dead.
