Mr. and Mrs. J. Oakley left this morning for Auckland. • Mr. J. Lalor left this morning on return to Christchurch. The New Zealand Law Society, at its quarterly meeting in Wellington yesterday, elected Mr P. B. Cooke, K.C., to succeed the Chief Justice, Mr Justice O’Leary, as the president of the society.—(P.A.) The resignation of Mr. C. H. Minifie from the Otira school was received by the Canterbury Education Board, yesterday. The following West Coast appointments were confirmed:—Cobden, Mr. J.
