EMPTY HOUSES

R.S.A. BRANCH DECIDES ON ACTION (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept 20. The executive of the New Plymouth Returned Services’ Association is obtaining a list of empty houses in the town and will have them photographed and the photographs tagged with the owner’s name cind address so that R.S.A. members can obtain the owners’ or trustees’ name and addresses. The president, Mr Murdoch Fraser, at a meeting of the association last night, after expressing the opinion that it was the association’s duty to see that the best use was made of the materials and houses available, said, this was not meant as a threat, but the executive felt that “if the owners can bear at firsthand the stories we have heard of hardship they would not„permit the houses to remain empty.”
