ONE MAN MISSING
SMALL BOAT OVERTURNS AT AUCKLAND TWO OCCUPANTS RESCUED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 18. After nearly three hours in the freezing water of the Rangitoto channel, two of three well-known Auckland men, whose small boat was swamped while they were fishing this afternoon, were rescued in an exhausted condition. One of the men struggled ashore on to Rangitoto Island, and the other was picked up by a Marine Department launch. The third man was swept away by the strong tide and has not been found. The missing ffian is Eric J. Roseman, married, a defence purchase officer of the Army Department, Mission Bay. William W. King, solicitor, married, of Mount Eden, was picked up three-quarters of a mile .off Rangitoto, exhausted and suffering from cramp. Walter Castaing, land agent, married, of Mission Bay, was carried several miles by a strong current, and managed to swim to McKenzie Bay on Rangitoto. The launch took him aboard soon after he had reached the shore.
