A number of staff changes in the Union Steam Ship Company will take place on October 31. One of those affected will be Mr. P. E. Trevella, branch manager at Westport, who will be transferred to the position of branch manager at Invercargill. His place at Westport will be taken by Mr. C. F. Watson, chief freight clerk at Dunedin. Sir William Clark, who is to investigate Dominions Office establishments in the Dominions and report upon staffing and other questions, was the first British High Commissioner to take office when he went to Canada in 1928. Sir William Clark retired from the Dominions Office in 1940. He is a director of a number of shipping and banking firms. He will visit New Zealand in the course of his tour, which is being undertaken at the personal request of Lord Addison, Secretary of State for the Dominions. —•_ London, September 17. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air ViceMarshal A. de T. Nevill, who recently attended defence talks in London and subsequently visited the R.N.Z.A.F. occupation squadron in Japan, is expected to return to New Zealand by air to-day. He is travelling in' an aircraft of No. 41 (Transport) Squadron from Whenuapai, which picked him up at Singapore, and took him to Japan. The aircraft is expected to leave Brisbane at 8 o’clock this morning. It will take Air Vice-Marshal Nevill to Paraparaumu, near-Welling-ton, before returning to Whenuapai.— (P.A.)
