GOLF Champs unship Finals on Saturday

Owing to the wet conditions all the Greymouth Golf Club’s competition matches except one were postponed last week-end. The match • played was the intermediate championship semi-final between J. McNulty and L. C.i Lindley. Despite the unpleasant conditions Lindley played excellent golf to win five and four.

Finals on Saturday. The club championship finals will be played over 36 holes on Saturday, commencing at 9.15 a.m. Given good conditions some excellent golf should be seen. The senior championship will b£ between B. W. Caulton, who has won the event on three previous occasions, and L. Rhodes. This season Rhodes has been playing probably the better golf of the two, and this final should be keenly contested. The intermediate championship between F. F. Boustridge and L. C. Lindley should also be a good game. Boustridge played an excellent game a fortnight ago to defeat Cox in the semi-final, and the final should be very even. The junior championship between T. Cameron and W. Ryan should be-a close finish, as both are capable of playing golf below their’ handicaps. Fourball Competition. On Sunday, at 9.15, the second round of the Brown and Walters Cup fourball competition will be played. The draw is as follows: —Hill and Hutchison, Taylor and O’Donnell; Lindley and Harrington, Caulton and Wicks; Brown and F. Woodhouse, R. Woodhouse and Rea; Boustridge and Brayshay, Fogarty and Cameron; Cox and Reid, Chivers and Ryan; Foster and Jefcoate, Garth and Murdoch; McNulty and S. Hill, Rhodes and Robertson; Stopforth and Sansom, Lancaster and Eadie. Women’s Matches.

The L.G.U. medal match postponed from last week will be played on Saturday. The third round for the Caulton trophy 'will be the match for C division players.
