RATIONING SUBJECTS

PROBLEM OF UNIVERSITY ACCOMMODATION VICTORIA COLLEGE ACTION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. The rationing of subjects which students will take for the arts and science degrees will be enforced by the Victoria University College next year to avoid the necessity to exclude students, a position created by the accommodation problem. Restrictions of this nature were imposed by the university authorities in some cases this year, and in others steps were taken to exclude students where there was reason to believe they had neglected to take advantage of a reasonable opportunity to pursue their studies. Before the war there were 1100 students at the university, and now there are 2200. _ Temporary huts are being erectea at the college to accommodate the overflow of students.
