, PROVISIONAL RESULTS IN THREE ZONES (Rec. 3 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 16. The Christian Democrat, Herr Nitt, is reported to have been expelled from Mecklenberg, in -the Russian zone of Germany, for allegedly informing the Hamburg radio -of the election results. The Russian, commandant is stated to have been very disturbed, because in spite of precautions, the Hamburg radio broadcast the results before they were officially announced. Provisional final results in the Russian zone of the municipal elections are as follows:— Brandenburg (excluding Berlin City results): —Socialist Unity 820,600 votes; Christian Democrats, 359,038; Liberal Democrats, 238,387; minor parties, 52,942. The French zone .figures, which are virtually complete are as follows: — Badenbaden.—Christian Socialists, 287,866; Independents, 80,000; Socialists, 75,030; Liberal Democrats, 45,005; Communists, 32,044. Palatinate.—Christian Socialists, 258,858; Socialists, 197,908; Independents, 89,146; Communists, 58,043. Rhineland.—Christian Socialists, 317,327; Independents, 184,094; Socialists, 111,566; Communists, 24,380. With half the votes counted in the British zone the figures are.— Social Democrats, 2,285,307; Christian Democrats, 2,611,319; Independents, 1,885,813; Lower Saxonyjtes, 475,403; Communists, 339,416.. 1800 MEN REQUIRED FOR NEW • ZEALAND NAVY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. It is anticipated that in the immediate future 1800 personnel will be required to man all the establishments and ships of the Royal New Zealand Navy. This was announced to-day by the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones), who said that this total was expected to be reached by the end of June, 1947, and would include, 300 from the Royal Navy. The Minister said the ships would include H.M.N.Z.S. Black Prince, at present in reserve in Auckland, and H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona, which is to replace the Achilles.

BOS MURPHY CONSIDERING AMERICAN OFFER (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 12. Bos Murphy, at present in Dunedin training under, the well-known instructor, Archie Leckie, has received a cabled offer of bouts in the United States from a Minneapolis promoter. Murphy is seriously considering this offer. It is stated that good bouts in Minneapolis have attracted gates of 40,000 dollars to 60,000 dollars, 50 per cent, of which was split by the boxers. In the meantime, Murphy is anxious to meet Ernie Roderick, British Empire welterweight champion, with whom negotiations are in progress for a bout in New Zealand for a purse of £3OOO.
