DEFINITE HOURS
TOBACCONISTS AND HAIRDRESSERS NOTICE GAZETTED Hairdressers, tobacconists, and all other shops in Greymouth selling smoking requisites will, from September 23, be. required to close on ordinary week-days at 5.30 p.m. and on Fridays at 9 p.m. A notice to this effect was published in the Netv Zealand Gazette dated September 12. The notice appeared as the result of a petition signed by local hairdressers and tobacconists. It means that the opening of hairdressing saloons other than during the approved hours will be illegal and that tobacco and cigarettes may not lawfully be sold except during the times stated. The inspector of awards at Greymouth, Mr. D. T. C. Brayshay, told an Evening Star reporter this morning that penalties were provided for failure to comply Avith the regulations and that all businesses concerned must take note of the gazetted instructions.
