DISPLACED PERSONS
LITTLE AID IN SOLVING PROBLEM FEW OFFERS TO UNO (Rec. 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 15. The director of the United Nations Division of Refugees, Sir Rafael Cilente, reported to the Economic and Social Council that only 23 of the 41 nations have replied to the Unitel Nations’ request for specific proposals for solving the displaced persons problem. Also, only eight of -the 20 nations represented on the special committee on refugees and displaced persons have replied to the request for details of the number of persons they would be prepared to accept as immigrants. ' The replies, he added, indicated that not much relief for displaced persons could be expected without a drastic alteration in the present immigration policies.
