THE WEATHER Forecast: Showery
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: A trough of low pressure is crossing New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Winds from a westerly quarter, - freshening at times; weather cloudy, with occasional showers, especially to-morrow morning; cool temperatures. Further outlook: Rather Jinsettled. LOCAL RECORDNGS 9 a.m.: Barometer, 998; thermometer, 52; wind, north-west (strong breeze); sky, overcast and drizzling, river, normal; bar, moderate sea, rainfall, 0.89 inches. (The total rainfall to date this year is 57.99 inches). The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 24ft 6in.
