AGREEMENT REACHED
CZECH-POLISH FRIENDSHIP PACT PLEASING TO MOSCOW (Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 8 Reports from Paris state that the Czechoslovakian and Polish Ministers attending the Paris Conference have reached an agreement on the lines of the Jugoslav treaties of friendship and mutual assistance with Poland and Czechoslovakia, subject to the approval of their respective Governments, says Reuter’s Prague correspondent. Czechoslovakia and Poland agreed to defer the settlement of their claims respecting the industrial border of Teschen and the Czech claims on what is now Polish Silesia until after Germany’s eastern frontier is fixed . Poland’s acquiesence to Czechoslovakia’s suggestion paved the way for the treaty of friendship and assistance against any future German aggression. It is felt in Prague that the development will please Moscow, which has always recommended a direct understanding.
