(Rec. 11.10 a.ni.) SYDNEY,. August 7.
The Union Steatn Ship Company’s freighter Kairanga, which is due to leave Sydney for Auckland at the end of the week will take the ashes of the late Captain William Martin to a resting place near the steamer he commanded.
When the Niagara, en route from Auckland to Vancouver was mined and sunk off the Hauraki Gulf on June 19, 1940 she was commanded by Captain Martin. It was his wish that his ashes be cast into the sea near the wreck of the Niagara. Captain E. M. Anderson will take the Kairanga as close as he can to a spot above the wreck.
