HOCKEY Match Against Canterbury on September 28

At last evening’s meeting of the West Coast Hockey Association, it was decided to acecpt Canterbury’s date of September 28 as suitable for a match against an eleven in Christchurch. An invitation was also extended to a team to visit Greymouth.

Mr. J. Sloss presided. Others present were Messrs. M. Newton, V. Messenger, R. C. Bennett, N. Messenger, R. Beckman, I. Burn, G. Williams, and the secretary-treasurer, Mr. L. P. Coffey. The Waimai Club, Nelson, advised that it could send two teams to play at Greymouth on August 24.—-It was decided to advise the club that the date was satisfactory. It was also resolved to pick the best local eleven to play the Waimai senior team, and a team of first-year players to compete against the visting junior team. Two trial games were arranged for August 17 to give the selectors an opportunity to see the progress being made by individual players. The games will be Colts v. The Rest, and Possibles v. Probables. Members decided to send a letter of congratulation to the West Coast Rugby League on its team’s performance against the touring English side. , .
