Arabian Night Sound Again [SPECIAL TO STAR.] CHRISTCHURCH, August 6. Conditions were ideal lor track work at Riccarton to-day. The trial grass provided fast going. The main steeplechase course was open but only one trainer made use of it. British Mint was sent out for a round, but after jumping the first two safely he stopped at the first of the kennels’ double and precipitated his rider in the ditch in front. The task was then called off. The horse will be given another opportunity over the main course on Thursday. Test Pilot jumped four hurdles at a fairly slow pace, but did not shape as well as usual. Boloyna also went over- four hurdles, giving a clean display. The Monarch - and Foxspear were companions over four hurdles, both giving fast displays. . Dashing Exhibition.

Hunting Mac was responsible for another dashing exhibition over foui’ hurdles in fast time. He will be an interesting candidate in the Grand National Hurdles. Arabian Night and Blue Title jumped four hurdles together, both shaping satisfactorily.

The former carried on over two more and the pair then worked a circuit on the sand. Arabian Night pulled up apparently sound and will contest Saturday’s big hurdle race. Blue Title impressed by his work and will probably be one of the favourites next Saturday. Much interest attached to a round by Bramble Song and Slavonik. The former gave the better display and promises to be in keen demand for the Grand National Hurdles. Hunting Charm had to be hard ridden to keep near the novice Lyndon Lea over four hurdles.

On the Flat.

There was not a great deal of serious galloping. Rahine had the best time, 49 4-5, over half a mile. Others included: Tifox 50, Desert Fox and Revivre 50 1-5 Lowry Bay and High Ideal 50 3-5, Griffin and Good Bay 51 2-5, Julius Caesar 52, The Grand and Beneve 52 1-5, and Wane 52 1-5.

Karachi reeled off five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, the last four in 49. Wild Note and Provider followed in 1.3 4-5, the last four in 50. ' Privilege ran six furlongs in 1.18, the last four in 50. Record Voyage and Wildfire registered similar figures. Golden Souvenir and Bruce recorded 1.19 3-5, and Knight Crusader and Quadrille 1.20 1-5. Royal Robe beat Detain in 1.20, Imperial took 1.19, the last four in 52 2-5, and Hart Royal and Grand Melee recorded 1.21 2-5.

Sedgemere attracted notice by galloping seven furlongs in 1.31, the last four in 52 2-5. Lance Wing and Royal Chance strode over a mile in 1.46 3-5, the second half in 50.
