CHRISTCHURCH Technical Takes Lead in Championship

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 3. Two of the leading teams, Christchurch and New Brighton, met on the Oval at Lancaster Park to-day. Christchurch, which had been lucky to draw with Training College on the previous Saturday, was beaten by 6 points to 3, and now with 12 points is second to Technical (13 points) in the championship. The positions of other teams are as follows: —New Brighton and Sydenham, 11 points; Linwood, 9£; Sunnyside, 8>; University, 7J; Old Boys, 41; Training,College, Albion, and Marist, 4; Merivale, ' Following are the results of senior grade matches played to-day:—New Brighton 6, Christchurch 3; Marist 13, Linwood 12; Sunnyside 12, University 5; Technical 51, Albion 16, Old Boys 25, Merivale 6; Sydenham 16, Training College 10. With a penetrating back-line attack that time and time again baffled the opposition, Christchurch Boys’ High School held almost complete mastery over St. Bede’s College in the inter-school match to-day. High School won by 22 points to 3 in a game marked by some of the liveliest and most open football in school matches this season.
