NEW AMBASSADOR
'AUSTRALIAN MINISTER FOR WASHINGTON CANBERRA, August 3. The Australian Prime Minister (Mr. Chifley), has announced that the King has approved the appointment of Mr. N. J. O. Makin as Australian Ambassador in the United States. His appointment would date from August 15. It was intended that Mr. Makin should remain in America for five years.
From to-day, Mr. A. S. Drakeford becomes Minister of the Navy, in place of Mr. Makin, and Mr. J. J. Dedman Minister of Munitions and Aircraft Production. Mr. Chifley said that the Government proposes to appoint its Resident Minister in London, Mr. J. A. Beasley, as.. High Commissioner in the United Kingdom as from August IS.
