A crowd broke into the police building in.the northern’ industrial town of Miskolcz, dragged the chief of the Political Investigation Department, Arthur Fraenker, into the ■street and killed him by smashing in his head. They were demonstrating against the alleged ill-treat-ment of 16 workers who were arrested after lynching two Jews accused of black market activities. The Russian garrison commander intervened when the crowd attempted to hang Fraenker’s corpse in the market square.- .
