Clashes in Greece.
Six gendarmes were killed after surrendering to Leftists who attacked a gendarmerie station neai’ the village of Ambelonia in centraLPeloponnesus. Four clashes between gendarmes and Leftist bands resulted in nine gendarmes being killed and 21 Leftists wounded.—Athens, August 1.
