REVOLUTION THE AIM
MINERS' LEADER IN NEW SOUTH WALES ASSERTION BY MR. HUGHES CANBERRA, August 1. “At the head of the Miners’ Federation is a man whose one purpose is revolution—the overturn of the democratic system of government for which we have fought,” said Mr W. M. Hughes (Liberal, New South Wales), former Prime Minister, when attacking the miners and the Government’s Coal Bill in the Federal House of Representatives to-day. Referring to the Miners’ Federation president, Mr Wells, Mr Hughes declared that all of his movements and all of his manoeuvres were preparatory to the purpose to which he had dedicated his life. Below Mr Wells there were, others, whose opinions shaded down from deep red to pale, anaemic pink. Mr Hughes said that the apathy of the miners was the worst symptom, for 75 per cent, of them were against the tactics that were being adopted. _____________________
